400 Meter Dash
Woodrow Wilson's Mikah Alleyne led from the outset and sped to a repeat State Championship and tied her State Meet Record from last year with a 56.04. This also ties for the 3rd Best All-Time State Meet Performance and ties for the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Ripley's Allison Fields was the only other competitor under 58 seconds with her 57.65 for 2nd. Parkersburg South's Samara Nunn held the 3rd spot down the stretch, finishing in 58.55. Musselman's Madison Gray closed well to move into the 4th spot in 58.77. John Marshall's Zara Zervos just nipped Morgantown's Justice Washington at the line for 5th, 59.52 to 59.53.
RunWV's Current Score: 14 of 18.

800 Meter Run
Ripley's Tori Starcher assumed the lead from the gun and led the field through the 1st lap in 1:04. Morgantown's Lea Hatcher had just moved into the 2nd spot just before the line in 1:05. Musselman's Madison Gray was in 3rd, also at 1:05. I believe University's Caroline Kirby was in 4th at 1:08. Starcher continued to push the pace over the remainder of the race and clocked a State Meet Record 2:08.40 for the win. This is also the Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hatcher didn't relent either, clocking a very strong 2:11.07 in the 2nd spot, which is good enough for the 4th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 4th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Kirby made a late pass into 3rd place in 2:19.07. Gray was 4th in 2:19. John Marshall's Zara Zervos was 5th in 2:20.04, and Preston's Allie Martin took the 6th spot in 2:20.53.

Morgantown's Lea Hatcher was in 2nd at 1:11, followed by teammate Athena Young, also at 1:11. University's Caroline Kirby was in 4th at 1:12. I think it was Cabell Midland's Anya Miller right at her heels in 5th, and I think Cabell Midland's Emma Jenkins was in 6th at 1:13. On the 2nd lap, Starcher extended her lead just a bit, coming through in 2:24. Hatcher remained in 2nd at 2:27. Young remained in 3rd at 2:28. University's Zoe Shetty was in 2nd at 1:15. Hedgesville's Dakota Johnson was in 3rd at 1:16 with University's Caroline Kirby at her side with the same time. Morgantown's Athena Young was in 5th, also at 1:16 with Cabell Midland's Emma Jenkins matching that time in 6th. Lap two saw Starcher push her lead out to 11 seconds, coming through in 2:27. She was followed by a strung out pack of 8. Shetty was in 2nd at 2:38 with Young and Kirby just a step behind, matching that time. Preston's Allie Martin had moved into 5th in 2:39 with Jenkins in 6th at 2:40. On lap 3, Starcher continued to build to her lead, coming through in 3:47. The rest of the field was starting to spread out. There were three battling for 2nd with Shetty, Kirby, and Young all passing at 4:01. 300 Meter Low Hurdles
Woodrow Wilson's Mikah Alleyne made this a little more interesting than it could have been. Just as she was moving into the lead at hurdle four, she stumbled and nearly fell. This put her in 4th place as they cleared hurdle five and came out of the turn. But she had moved into a virtual tie for the lead by the time they hit hurdle six, and then pulled away the rest of the race to take the win in 44.51 which ties her for the 8th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and ties her for the 6th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Hurricane's Danielle Ray closed well to move from 4th to 2nd over the last couple hurdles, finishing in 45.52. 4x400 Meter Relay
At the end of one leg, it was Morgantown out front, just a blip over 60 seconds. I believe Ripley was in 2nd, though it was very close. Morgantown continued to control things through the 2nd leg, coming through under 2:04. Ripley made a pass down the stretch to move back into 2nd at just over 2:05 with Wheeling Park in 3rd at 2:07. Spring Mills was in 4th, just bareley ahead of John Marshall, courtesy of a better handoff with both also coming through at 2:07. Parkersburg South was in 6th at 2:09. On the 3rd leg, Ripley's Allison Fields went hunting and chased down Morgantown at the 200 meter mark and surged past as they entered the turn. She closed out her leg at about 59.5, and Ripley had a significant lead. Morgantown was in the 2nd spot at 3:07 with Wheeling Park in 3rd at 3:08. Spring Mills was in 4th at 3:09. I didn't catch 5th and 6th. On the anchor leg, Ripley's Tori Starcher dropped a 56.6 to send Ripley's group of Kyanah Baldwin, Cassidy Miller, Allison Fields, and Tori Starcher to the win in 4:01.64, which is a new State Meet Record, the Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance. Spring Mills was 4th in 4:11.24. Parkersburg South moved up to 5th in 4:12.62 on a strong anchor from Samara Nunn. John Marshall held the 6th spot in 4:14.16.

On the final leg, Preston continued to lead through the 1st 400 meters. Cabell Midland made the pass into the lead shortly after the line, but Morgantown's Lea Hatcher was on the move, having moved past University into 3rd, and she was rolling. Morgantown moved past Preston in the turn and set their sights on Cabell. Hatcher made the pass into the lead with about 260 meters to go, and would pull away to give the Morgantown foursome of Tazanna Epps, Amelia Haddox, Athena Young, and Lea Hatcher the win in 9:33.71, which is the 4th Best All-Time State Meet Performance and the 4th Best All-Time Class AAA State Meet Performance.
